Your epitaph will begin: “She redefined what it meant to be a good woman.”
It will say: “She scaled mountains, in hiking boots and in heels. She started in her own backyard and then went all the way around the world. She accepted challenges with curiosity and determination. She emerged victorious regardless of outcome, knowing both the pleasure of success and the grace of failure. She tasted long hot days and cool still nights, at home wherever she found herself. She wasn’t always popular, but she was always true. She wasn’t always comfortable, but no one can say she didn’t enjoy her life. She explored her edges, increased her capacity, and lived as big as she could dream. Moved equally by bliss and pain, she played her heart out one moment at a time. She was dialed in. She was courageous. She was turned on.” – The Turned-On Woman’s Manifesto
Hello dear friend,
We may know each other well or not at all but I’d like to think if you made it all the way to this blog, we could be friends and so since we are going to be chummy, I want to get to know you.
If we were in person, I’d grab you a cup of coffee or a glass of really great Rioja wine and I’d let you talk about your dreams and desires and I’d ask you about what your heart hungered for in life and what legacy you want to leave this beautiful, complicated world.
See that little boy? He’s my why.
I went back to work like so many women do after they have a baby and my heart just about shattered. Every day I’d drive my boy home from daycare and cry over all the lost moments. I did that for seven months.
Finally, after months of preparing and saving and dreaming and praying, I took a giant leap of faith and walked away from a wonderful job to go after the life I wanted to live.
And here I am.
I never want to look back on my one “wild and precious life” and realize I didn’t tell my truth or voice my thoughts or leave a legacy that means something.
Join me, won’t you?
I’m so glad you are here.
